Over a span of 5 years, my journey to understand the landscape also comes through the act of being in the process of listening and telling. In the whole process, what has been gathered are the kaleidoscope of human emotions and human interaction from Himachal Pradesh to Arunachal Pradesh. I am grateful that Mutanchi folklore of River Teesta could connect so many children and students from across India and their connection with the river.
Mussoorie Mountain Festival 2018
This was a session in the slumps of Yamuna bridge, the bridge that I used to cross everyday while staying in Delhi University and not once did I look below the bridge. In 2019, when I visited Delhi again, I got an opportunity to conduct a session with the children. While narrating a story, the water level from the Yamuna river rose and the people were asked to flee in the middle of the session. At that moment, I realised that listening to a story is a privilege for many of us.
Nepal
My session in Collegiate School in Pokhara helped me understand the dimension of geography and how man made borders have divided us. It was during this session where these kids wanted the River Teesta to come to Nepal and clean the Bagmati River. The way they drew the river flowing and going to wells showcased an innocent and intricate way of looking at water, the way children looked at the water.
